Welcome to Isola Stables, the horse and rider training barn of Grand Prix Show Jumping rider and trainer David Murdoch.
Isola Stables is a boutique training facility nestled in the beautiful Portola Valley, at the Glenoaks Equestrian Center.
It all started some five decades ago in New Zealand. David Murdoch had a passion for horses and training. He started in Pony Club, rode on the Grand Prix Circuit and on the New Zealand Team.
David also built the leading Equestrian Facility in New Zealand before moving to California in the 1990’s.
To be considered an internationally renowned trainer, one must have the instincts to spot a champion in an equine prospect and have the ability to bring that horse to its fullest potential.
This is where David excels!
Since moving to the United States, David has imported more than 300 horses from all over the world. The majority have been for Isola clients that he matches to suit the particular need of the rider.
Multiple Grand Prix Championships
United States and Europe
Rider - Mandy Porter.
Imported July 2014
David has also imported a number of horses for himself, either as investments or, to campaign for Isola stables at the major shows. Most recently David imported the 9 year old Oldenburg mare, Eminent. With Mandy Porter in the irons, Eminent won 9 Grand Prix in 2015 and has remained consistently successful. The most famous of David's many winners was the New Zealand Warmblood Charisma. David purchased Charisma as a weanling from the breeder and eventually sold him to Mark Todd. Mark went on to win the "Olympic Eventing individual Gold Medal" in both Los Angeles and Seoul, South Korea, as well as at Badminton, Burghley and many other major events.
